HOW YOU CAN HELP

Story By Pastor Jean

Sunday before last I was teaching my 8-12-year-old students the value of giving, and while teaching, I started discussing the amount that you give. While talking, it was stated whether it’s a dollar or a nickel, it does not matter. Sure enough, like lickety-split, when some students came back from their parents, one had a dollar, and another came back with that proverbial nickel! Really, is that what they mean by,’ be careful about what you ask for because you just might get it!’

That would be a good place to end this story, but it just doesn’t end there; another student, not even old enough for the class (she is no older than three years old); she was tiny like Tim; she came back with a penny!

Immediately, I had the presence of mind to put it on display with what Jesus called, “The Widow’s Mites;” its equivalent was less than a penny, but Christ noted that she gave more: others gave out of their abundance, but she gave out of her necessity; they gave out of their wealth, but she gave out of her poverty; they gave and had much more, but she gave and had nothing left.

Christ, like Philadelphia Evangelical Baptist Church, sees the heart in your giving, and like that 2-3 year old little girl, we’ll make a special notation of that whatever you give, it came from your heart.
